Giro
Lukas Pöstlberger upset the odds on Friday as the Austrian neo-pro won the opening stage of the Giro d'Italia.
A bunch sprint had been expected at the end of the 206 kilometre stage from Alghero to Olbia and Pöstlberger went to the front of the peloton with two kilometres left to start the lead-out for his Bora-Hansgrohe team-mate Sam Bennett of Ireland.
But he saw a gap open up behind him and pushed on to take his first WorldTour victory – and the famous pink jersey –much to the Austrian's own disbelief.

JHDZ: How are you?
ALEXANDER: I am great, thanks for asking.
JHDZ: What made you like cycling?
ALEXANDER: I watched Paris Roubaix on TV and was immediately drawn to how tough and tactical the sport was.
JHDZ: How did you join OCM?
ALEXANDER: I decided to watch the whole Tour de France and it turned out it could be very boring for long stretches. I googled "cycling simulator game" as a way to pass the time and landed on a couple. cway brought me into the fold on OCM.
JHDZ: What made you stay?
ALEXANDER: The people. That is the answer to both initially and after my return from a 17 season absence. Different people but still awesome.
JHDZ: What has been your best moment in the game?
ALEXANDER: One best moment? That’s alot to ask. Winning Essex. Realising Royce's potential. My first amazing talent Halsey Rowzee. Coming back after 17 seasons and seeing the crazy stuff that had happened.
JHDZ: Something you miss?
ALEXANDER: I miss some of the original peeps that used to hang around. FFL, cway & Team Ice.
JHDZ: Something you are proud of?
ALEXANDER: Winning the best Australian award last year. It is a culmination of a lot of hard work. Big thanks to Don!

ALEXANDER: Geir Holter, I like a niche rider and this guy has 2 skills. Amazing.
Runner up is Philip De Weert.
JHDZ: Plans for the future of your team?
ALEXANDER: Win "Melbourne - Canberra". I don't have the rider for it so i will continue to throw square pegs at a round hole until the OCM gawds submit to my forceful will. Staying in div 1 just happens to be the price to compete in this glorious race.
